Leland Yacht Club — USSCA Midwest Regional Championship I (2026)
Release of Liability, Waiver of Claims, and Assumption of Risk

In consideration of being permitted to participate in the USSCA Midwest Regional Championship I (the “Event”) hosted by the Leland Yacht Club (“LYC”), I acknowledge and agree as follows:

1. Assumption of Risk. I understand that sailboat racing and related activities are inherently dangerous and involve risks including but not limited to property damage, capsize, collision, drowning, serious personal injury, and death, whether caused by my own actions, the actions of others, the condition of the equipment or premises, weather, water and wind conditions, or otherwise. I knowingly and voluntarily assume all such risks, both known and unknown. The decision to race, and to continue racing, is mine alone, and I am solely responsible for the safety of myself, my crew, and my boat.

2. Eligibility & Condition. I certify that I (and my crew) am a competent swimmer, am in good health and physically fit to participate, will wear a U.S. Coast Guard–approved personal flotation device while on the water, and that my boat and equipment are seaworthy and properly maintained.

3. Rules. I agree to be bound by the Notice of Race, the Sailing Instructions, the Racing Rules of Sailing, and the rules of the applicable class association, and I accept the sole responsibility for my decision to participate. I also agree to comply with all LYC rules and policies, including restrictions on alcohol use on the LYC premises or on the lake during the Event.

4. Release. To the fullest extent permitted by law, I release, waive, and discharge the Leland Yacht Club, its officers, directors, members, volunteers, race committee, sponsors, and agents (the “Released Parties”) from any and all liability, claims, demands, or causes of action arising out of or related to my participation in the Event, including any claim based on the negligence of the Released Parties.

5. Indemnification. I agree to indemnify and hold harmless the Released Parties from any loss, liability, damage, or cost they may incur arising out of my participation in the Event.

6. Media. I grant the Leland Yacht Club permission to use photographs and video of me taken during the Event for promotional purposes without compensation.

7. Minors. If the participant is under 18 years of age, the parent or legal guardian signing below agrees to all of the above on the participant's behalf and personally accepts and assumes all such risks and responsibilities.

8. Severability. If any provision of this waiver is held invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions shall remain in full force and effect.

9. Emergency Medical Consent. I authorize LYC or the race organizers to obtain medical treatment if necessary.

I have read this Release of Liability, Waiver of Claims, and Assumption of Risk, understand it, and agree to its terms freely and voluntarily by submitting this registration (or by signing below).

If the skipper is under 18, this waiver must be signed by a parent or legal guardian.
